How many days until a deadline? How long was a job, a loan or a project? How many working days are in your leave? This calculator counts the time between any two dates, in total days, in years, months and days, in weeks, and in weekdays.
How to use the date difference calculator
- Pick the start date and the end date.
- Choose whether to count the end date too. Count it for things like leave or hotel stays where both days matter. Don't count it for the plain difference between two dates.
How it is calculated
- Total days is the number of days from the start date to the end date, plus one if you count the end date.
- Years, months and days counts full calendar months, the same way as an age calculator.
- Weekdays counts Monday to Friday. Public holidays are not removed, because they differ by state and company.
Examples
- 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026: 364 days apart, or 365 days counting both dates. That includes 260 weekdays (261 counting 31 December, a Thursday).
- Leave from Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October 2026, counting both days: 5 days, all weekdays.
- A 90-day notice period starting on 24 September 2026 ends on 23 December 2026.
FAQ
Should I include the end date?
Include it when both the first and last day count, such as leave, a hotel booking or a course. Leave it out when you want the gap between two dates, such as days until an exam.
Does it count public holidays?
No. It counts Monday to Friday as weekdays. Subtract public holidays yourself, since they vary by state and employer.
How are months counted?
Full calendar months are counted first, then the remaining days, just like counting on a calendar. From 31 January to 28 February is 28 days, not one month.
